I have to admit that I'm a senior citizen - how did that ever happen? - and on this early Tuesday morning, I wasn't very hungry, so the "Little Less" section of the breakfast menu caught my attention. I "substituted" sourdough toast rather than a biscuit. All selections on the "Little Less" section of the menu come with strip-cut hash browns, or a biscuit, but toast can be substituted. Photo: From the "Little Less" section of the breakfast menu, I ordered the "Ham and Cheese Omelette," made with, as the menu describes, two eggs. Photo: Thanks, Rudi, for snapping my photo, as I get ready to enjoy a "Ham and Cheese Omelette," from the "Little Less" section of the breakfast menu. Photo: Meet Rudi, my friendly and attentive server, but when it came to having her photo taken, was quite a bit on the "camera shy" side. Black Bear Diner is a diner, and doesn't serve "fast food," but my delicious breakfast was ready, and delivered to me in only about 15 minutes after placing my order. Photo: My server, Rudi, picks up my order from the kitchen window. The restaurant, and the dining room, is "bear theme," in keeping with the name of the restaurant, and the parent chain, Black Bear Diner. Photo: I loved this "bear" picture on the dining room wall. Shasta City, CA, a couple hundred miles plus a few more miles, I love the "Shasta" brand of steak sauce, as the original Black Bear Diner was established back in 1995, in Mt. I suppose I need to visit this restaurant more often. Photo: Until I sat at the counter on this early Tuesday morning, I had no idea that Black Bear Diner had their own brand of ketchup, along with three varieties of hot sauce. The breakfast menu offers every choice that a breakfast lover could dream of. Photo: The Auburn location of Black Bear Diner, and all Black Bear restaurant locations are serious about breakfast, as breakfast is served any time the restaurant is open. The window to the kitchen is behind the counter, so you get a great view of what's "happening" during your visit. The counter is large, friendly, and makes a great spot to enjoy breakfast. Today, I shared the counter with only one gentleman, seated at the far end, who preferred to keep to himself. Photo: When I dine alone, I prefer to sit at the counter, as I can watch the staff in action, and chit-chat, if their time permits. I arrived shortly after the restaurant had opened for breakfast, so the dining room was nearly empty, and I almost had the counter to myself. Photo: As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly server, who will welcome you to a table. It's just a little past the 0630 morning opening time on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, and I've arrived at the Auburn location of Black Bear Diner to enjoy a great breakfast. Yes, you can find Black Bear Diner locations in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, along with Washington. Photo: The Auburn, CA location of Black Bear Diner is one link in a small chain of restaurants, which span nine western states, and are noted for serving "good ol' home cookin'," and stick-to-your-ribs diner cuisine. In Auburn, my exception to "chain restaurants" happens to be Black Bear Diner, located on Lincoln Way, in Auburn, CA.Īs with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. I rarely visit chain restaurants, yet I'm not a "droid" and I make exceptions, especially when it comes to diners, and especially when it comes to a diner that serves breakfast any time the restaurant is open.
